🧵 The story of the button eyed doll
She smiles at you, sweet as anything, with blue hair falling either side of a freckled face and a little butterfly clip pinned above one ear. For a second she seems completely harmless.
Then you notice the eyes. Two black buttons, each stitched on with pale thread in a neat cross, sit where her eyes should be. It is the oldest trick in the creepiest stories, the doll that wants you to stay forever and offers to sew buttons over your own eyes to seal the bargain.
So she is cute and unsettling in the same breath, which is exactly the point. She rides a sunny yellow base that only makes those buttons look darker.
A handmade nod to a very creepy fairy tale. Sweet dreams.
